ORF. This year the No. 1 trade fair for mobile homes and caravans will run from Friday, 29 August, (Trade Visitor and Media Day) to Sunday, 7 September 2008. New launches are expected primarily in the compact mobile homes segment. Built to sleep two or four people, the van camper and partially integrated motor caravan vehicle categories have been diversifying their range of models for some years now. The start of 2008 also sees the most new launches in this vehicle type. The majority of these new motor homes are about 6 metres long and 2.15 m wide. Therefore they offer high agility in road traffic and are also fit for everyday use. Manufacturers are now predominantly focused on overcoming the scarce space associated with these compact dimensions through smart design solutions: berths are let down from the ceiling and can be made to disappear again at the flick of the wrist or even at a push of a button. Garages underneath the fixed rear berths provide added storage room even for bulky accessories. Thus, as time goes on the contradiction between living comfort, on the one hand, and compact dimensions and high mobility, on the other, is becoming less stark.
More mobility is now also afforded to caravans.
